TERMS AND CONDITIONS

Last updated March 2024.

Hello! These terms apply to your purchase of my "EmpowerHer: Managing the mental load” course (the “Course”) from me, Lauren Baird trading as Inner Glow Therapy of 0/1 30 McLennan Street, Glasgow G42 9DQ (“I”, “me” or “my”). It’s important that you read these terms carefully, because once you buy the Course, you’re considered to have accepted these terms and have agreed to be bound by them, and a legal contract is created between you and me.

If you’re unsure of anything, please don’t hesitate to contact me before you buy the Course.

About the Course

Effectively managing emotions is crucial for maintaining overall wellbeing and navigating life's challenges. Burnout results from a prolonged period of stress, resulting in depersonalisation, emotional exhaustion and decreased sense of accomplishment.

When these 3 components are left unattended or become overwhelming, they can negatively impact mental health, relationships, and daily functioning. By developing the skills to manage emotions, individuals can experience increased emotional resilience, improved self-regulation, and enhanced overall emotional well-being. It empowers individuals to respond to stressful situations with greater clarity, make informed decisions, and maintain healthier relationships. Ultimately, learning to manage emotions allows individuals to lead more fulfilling and balanced lives. This is exactly why I’ve developed the Course.

The purpose of the Course is to provide support and guidance to those who are struggling with burnout. My aim is to help you develop the necessary skills and understanding to effectively manage your emotions from a nurturing and kind perspective. Through the Course, you will have the opportunity to build a resource toolkit that will widen your Window of Tolerance, enabling you to navigate challenging emotional experiences with greater ease.

The Course also aims to reduce common struggles associated with issues such as the mental load, self criticism, lack of boundaries and overwhelm. You will gain a comprehensive understanding of your autonomic nervous system and its role in regulating emotions. You will explore the concept of the Window of Tolerance and learn about the impact that trauma can have on this vital capacity.

So, how does the Course work?

The Course lasts for 4 weeks, has a self paced element hosted on Teachable, a community support group hosted by Slack and a weekly coaching session hosted by Zoom.. Payment for the Course is required to be paid via teachable before you will be granted access to the Course. Once payment has been made, you will receive an email so that you can make an account and access the Course. You can then progress through the learning materials delivered as part of the Course. This self-paced, 100% online program is accessible anytime, anywhere, and for a lifetime.

Privacy of accounts

Your account and access to the Course is personal to you, and so you must not share your login details with any other person. If I discover that you have failed to maintain the privacy of your account and

access to the Course, or there has been unauthorised access, I reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the Course without any liability or refund.

Refund policy

Your access to the Course and all course materials made available to you (which constitute my intellectual property, as explained below) will start once you have paid for the Course. These are all referred to as digital products under consumer legislation. As you’ll have access to this intellectual property from the very start, and it isn’t possible to return them to me, when you pay for the Course you are expressly waiving your right to the 14-day cooling off period you would usually be entitled to under consumer legislation. This means that once you have paid for and accessed the Course, you won’t be able to change your mind and ask for a refund for the money paid for the Course. It also means that you can’t choose to end the Course and ask for a refund of any money paid, as all sales are final.

Disclaimers

While the Course will offer guidance, resources and tools, it's important to remember that your progress and outcomes are ultimately your own responsibility. Your success depends on your commitment, active participation, and implementation of the strategies and techniques shared.

Everyone's journey towards emotional wellbeing is unique, and individual results may vary. The strategies and techniques shared in the Course are intended to be helpful, but I cannot guarantee specific outcomes or changes in your emotional state.

I am an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist and an Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapist and I have designed psychoeducational and practical tools to help you manage your emotions more effectively. By buying and accessing the Course, you acknowledge and agree that no information delivered during the Course is considered psychotherapy or counselling. This Course can be accessed alongside psychotherapy or counselling, but it is not a replacement for professional therapy, medical advice, or diagnosis. It is important to seek appropriate professional help immediately if you are experiencing emotional distress, mental health issues, or challenging life circumstances, including suicidal ideations.

The Course is hosted on Teachable and Zoom, over which I have no control, and so while I strive to provide a seamless online learning experience, technical glitches or interruptions may occur and I cannot be held responsible for any disruptions in accessing the Course materials or technical issues beyond my control.

While I take reasonable steps to ensure the information in the Course is evidence-based, I can’t guarantee it, and so you act on the information it contains at your own risk. I also strive to ensure the accuracy and quality of the Course content, but I cannot guarantee that all information is error-free or up to date. In addition to this, the Course may also include references or links to external resources, such as books, websites, or other materials. Please note that I do not endorse or take responsibility for the content or accuracy of these external resources, so it is your responsibility to evaluate their suitability for your needs.

Intellectual property

My intellectual property rights are incredibly important to me. In a nutshell, intellectual property rights means the rights granted to those that create anything, whether it is in trade marks, text

content, typographical arrangements, designs, photos, graphics, layouts or anything else. As part of the Course, you will have access to my intellectual property.

You’re not permitted to copy, sell, transfer, assign, exploit, share, distribute, create derivative works of, sub-license or otherwise make my intellectual property available to anyone else, whether for commercial or personal purposes.

That being said, please feel free to reshare my Instagram posts on your own Instagram account (of course ensuring that I am credited as the original creator by not removing any watermarks from those posts).

Limitation of Liability

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes my liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, for wilful misconduct or deliberate default, for any breach of the terms implied by section 12 of the Sale of Goods Act 1979 or section 2 of the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982 (relating to title and quiet possession), or anything else that cannot be legally limited or excluded.

Subject to the above, I assume no liability for, and you shall hold me harmless against, any loss you suffer, whether directly or indirectly, or whether immediate or consequential, arising in contract, tort (including negligence), breach of statutory duty, or otherwise, including loss of profits, loss of sales or business, loss of business opportunity, loss of agreements or contracts, loss of anticipated savings, loss or corruption of data, loss of, or damage to, goodwill, indirect or consequential loss, or special damages. In addition to this, I disclaim any liability for any loss or damage incurred by you as a result of relying on the Course content or any part of it. My liability to you under these terms is limited to directly foreseeable loss.

Indemnification

This clause contains an indemnity, which is a legal promise to compensate someone for the losses they have incurred because of the actions of another. You agree to indemnify me against all losses, claims, demands, costs, and expenses incurred or suffered by me arising out of your access to Course or any breach of these terms.

Data protection

Your privacy is important to me, and so when I process any personal data I will comply with my data protection obligations under the Data Protection Act 2018. For more information on how I handle your personal data, please read my privacy policy which is available upon request.

The boring legal bit

I intend to rely on the written terms set out in these terms for the services I provide to you in delivery of the Course. These written terms constitute the entire agreement between us.

Should there be any conflict between these terms and any hosting platform or payment gateway, these terms shall prevail.

If any provision or part-provision of these terms is or becomes invalid, illegal or unenforceable, it shall be deemed modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid, legal and enforceable. If such

modification is not possible, the relevant provision or part-provision shall be deemed deleted. Any such modification or deletion shall not affect the validity and enforceability of the rest of these terms.

A delay in exercising a right under these terms won’t take away that right or any other right.

No one other than a party to these terms, has any right to enforce any of its terms and accordingly the Contracts (Third Party Rights) (Scotland) Act 2017 doesn’t apply to these terms.

These terms, and any non-contractual obligations arising hereunder, are governed by Scots law. The courts of Scotland have exclusive jurisdiction over any matter and proceedings arising out of the Course or these terms.
